For years, BC Ferries have offered a walk-on “day trip” from Swartz Bay.  It’s a great way to see up-close the smaller Gulf Islands, for a very economical price.  Watch as the skilled ferry crews juggle cars on and off-board at each stop, depending on their final destination.  On a warm summer day, and for under $15 for several hours, the round trip can’t be beat. Visit Salt Spring without a car

Salt Spring Island is a fabulous place, and with just two major commercial centres – Fulford Harbour and Ganges – it’s easy to visit even if you do not bring the car.  Plus it’s very inexpensive, with the walk-on ferry fare just $12.60 return for adults ($6.30 for those 5 to 11).  You can take a bike onboard for just $2.00.
